Project Aims
This project brings together K-12 teachers and their students, teacher educators and teacher candidates from a small set of school classrooms and faculty of education classrooms to share and develop teaching praxes and resources in the broad area of global citizenship education (GCE). Beginning with volunteer ‘champions’ who aspire to creative, worldly and de-colonizing approaches to citizenship education, we plan to slowly build a network of collaborative relations, discussions and resources. We hope that this project enables educators to more fully engage their educational values and aspirations in a shared pursuit of making a better world through education.
This project builds a university-schools partnership architecture / infrastructure through a series of classroom-to-classroom collaborations on developing, documenting, understanding and improving upon GCE praxes.
The aim of this project is to build collaborations in GCE praxes with teachers, teacher educators and teacher candidates as grounded in the actual curricular materials and classroom practices in K-12 and teacher education classrooms in order to:
- Map/organize the Terrain of GCE
- Develop typologies/frameworks around GCE practice
- Pedagogical approaches
- Manifestations in practice
- Learn to teach for global citizenship
- To determine what is desired of GC?
